Adele’s, one of Minnesota’s best frozen custard restaurants, has been serving custard for more than 35 years. They are located within walking distance from Lake Excelsior, making this the perfect summer spot.
Out of the over 100 flavors that they offer, 1-2 flavors are made fresh every day. Or if you have a favorite, feel free to let them know with a 24 hour notice and they will make a gallon of it for you. Head over to their flavor calendar for the flavors of the day so you can decide which day to go.
The day we visited Adele’s we had a coconut cream waffle cone (pictured below) and a cookie sandwich. Both were rich in flavor and had 10x the flavor than Dairy Queen. I highly recommend getting the waffle cone over any other cones they offer so that way you can get more for your money.
Both the waffle cone and cookie sandwich we had were huge. We had went to Adele’s Frozen Custard at about 4pm, after visiting Painter Creek Winery & Cidery, and sadly it ruined dinner for me later because I was full.
I can’t wait to go back to try more flavors!
What’s The Difference Between Ice Cream And Custard?
Both ice cream and custard are made with milk, cream, and flavorings. The first difference lies in the yolk. According to the FDA, ice cream has less than 1.4 percent yolk, while custard must have more than 1.4 percent yolk. The yolk gives custard a richer and deeper flavor.
The second difference is in the machines used to make the ice cream or custard. Ice cream machines whip air into the cream mixture giving it a light and airy texture. Custard machines whip as little air as possible into the cream mixture giving it a denser texture.
