Check out this impressive 53 foot water fall in the middle of the twin cities. Mini? Haha… Minnehaha Falls is one of Minnesota’s oldest and most visited park. We enjoyed a crisp fall hike when we were there. But, Minnehaha Falls Park has 194 acres so you will find many activities for you and your family.

Activities include:

  • Disc Golf
  • Bandstand
  • Biking Path
  • Gardens
  • Picnic Area
  • Volleyball Court
  • Wading Pool
  • Walking Trails
  • Seafood Restaurant (open seasonally)
  • Dog Park

Minnehaha Falls

Minnesota had a wet season so the falls were flowing fast and fierce. We were getting wet standing at the lookout in the picture below facing the waterfall. Sometimes, however, you might just see a little stream of water falling if it has been a dryer season.

Bring Your Fur Baby

We brought our fur baby, Remi, and he loved it! He was full of smiles the whole time, from all the new smells, getting up on ledges to peak around, and pulling the leash to keep going.
If you have an off-leash dog park permit, you can allow your dog to run like the wind in one of seven dog parks. Annual dog park permits are $35 for Minneapolis residents or $60 for Non-Minneapolis residents.

How To Get There?

Minnehaha Falls Park
4801 S. Minnehaha Drive
Minneapolis, MN 55417

With just under 10 minutes from the MSP Airport, this makes a great stop for a 3+ hour layover.

Go on a crisp day like we did and enjoy a afternoon in the park with a light crowd. Easy to find parking (pay to park) and walking trails were clear to walk around on.
